Laura Akast

I qualified from Bristol University in 2002.

After completing my dental foundation year in Gloucester I worked in both private and NHS practice treating a wide variety of patients with differing needs in the Bristol and Bath area for 5 years. In 2007 myself and my husband decided to relocate to Devon with all it has to offer for a better quality of life.

I purchased Salisbury Villa Dental Surgery in December 2007 and after an extensive refurbishment it reopened in the summer of 2008 to provide a 4 surgery modern high quality treatment centre with a relaxed atmosphere providing access to all.

I have a keen interest in restorative dentistry including crown and bridge and endodontics. I have great empathy for anxious patients and look to offer the best experience possible with a kind and gentle approach.

In addition to my own clinical dentistry I am a South West Postgraduate Deanery Educational Supervisor for a foundation dentist who is placed within the practice every year. This provides the opportunity to share my knowledge and skills I have developed over the years and ensure I keep abreast with modern techniques and changes within dentistry.

I am currently enrolled on Invisalign, a clear braces course, to gain this additional qualification and will be offering this treatment from the summer of 2016 onwards.

Outside of dentistry I have 2 young girls who occupy most of my free time along with enjoying the outdoors with my husband and making the most of Devon whether it be Dartmoor or the beautiful coastline we have.

Nuria Paris

I qualified from Barcelona University in 1998 and worked as a private dentist until we moved to the UK in 2012. After gaining a year post-graduate certificate in 2004 on Implantology, Periodontics and Prosthetics I moved forward to perform more surgical and restorative treatments for a further 7 years.

Prior moving to Chudleigh, I have been working in several NHS/private dental practices in Exeter, Honiton and Sidmouth. I am a dedicated, committed and skilled general dental practitioner with a special interest in Implants and Periodontics, who always strives to provide treatment to the highest quality standards, putting patients' interest first and trying to ease them to the dental chair.

I enjoy continuing to develop my skills as a dentist by attending various courses every year to keep up-to-date all my clinical knowledge and experience, therefore I am currently enrolled on post-graduate implant course which will allow me to sit the RCS Edinburgh Diploma in Implant Dentistry in a near future.

Outside of dentistry I enjoy spending time practicing yoga,  skiing in winter and making the most of Devon alongside my 2 boys and my husband.

Michael Redd

I qualified from Plymouth University 2019. Before starting at Chudleigh, I spent my foundation year working in Salisbury Villa, Teignmouth gaining experience working in the NHS.

I’m a dedicated enthusiastic dentist that enjoys all aspects of dentistry, in particular endodontics. I’m committed to improving my dentistry and am looking to attend postgraduate courses to further my skills. I take a calm, considered approach when treating patients and have great empathy for anxious patients.

Outside of dentistry I enjoy road cycling especially around Dartmoor, water sports and coastal walks in the beautiful Devon countryside.

Mark Shaw  -  Joining Chudleigh Dental Practice April 2022

I qualified in 1999 from the University of Wales College of Medicine. I did my foundation year at a practice in Dawlish and I have been there for the last 22 years. I work closely with my wife, Sue, who is my dental nurse and we form a strong team in the surgery. We are proud to have seen families grow up with our care and several generations then follow too.

I am a calm dentist with a good sense of humour and offer a very relaxed atmosphere to all patients. I like all aspects of general dental practice and I am looking forward to welcoming new and past patients to Chudleigh. For many years I have been treating unregistered patients with dental emergencies helping them with their pain often working with very anxious patients and achieving what the patient never thought possible, especially with Sue’s calming words and support throughout.

For the last 13 years I have been helping newly qualified dentists in their first year of practice. This is to help with their confidence and build their clinical skills and adapt to practice. My calm and humorous approach has always been appreciated and I still mentors past foundation dentists to this day.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking, travel, trying to stay fit and riding my motor trike.
